Job Description
- Assist in preparing for and during surgery by performing routine and delegated duties according to department and hospital standards to ensure quality patient care.
- Strong experience required in Neuro, Spine, and Orthopedics.
- Experience with Neuro, Spine, Ortho, and DaVinci surgical systems required.
- Occasional float to other campuses may be required.
- On-call duties required.
- Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (09:00 - 17:30), including weekends in rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- Certification through NBSTSA or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or equivalent educational qualification
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable.
- Education verification required unless highest education is high school.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law).
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
- Work history verification required for up to 7 years.
- References: 2 professional references required within 3 years for clinical and allied positions.
Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and others as position requires (verify with employer)
- State professional license verification within 30 days of start
- IV Certification may be required depending on role
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (exceptions apply)
- TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids)
Additional Requirements
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, vendor training, code of conduct, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- Religious exemption forms available for certain vaccine and facial hair accommodations; approval required.
- Onsite EKG exam may be required after start for ICU RNs.
- Color blindness exam required if applicable, must be in-person and documented by licensed healthcare provider.

- Includes weekend rotation and on-call responsibilities
