Registered Nurse - Step Down
Location: Waco, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 08:45 AM – 07:15 PM
Job Description / Clinical Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience in Step Down or similar acute care settings.
- Clinical skills and experience with:
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- BiPAP
- Stable glucose tolerance testing (GTT) management
- Post-operative care for CABG, AVR, MVR (post-op day 1)
- Cardiovascular and vascular cases including AAA repair, lobectomy, carotid endarterectomy (CEA)
- Management of NSTEMI, STEMI, acute coronary syndrome (ACS)
- Pacemaker care
- Sepsis management
- Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB)
- Post diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Respiratory failure
- Tracheostomy care
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 3 years of Step Down nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Clinical experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and BiPAP
- Post-operative care experience on post-op day 1 for CABG, AVR, and MVR
- Experience with cardiovascular and vascular cases, including AAA repair, lobectomy, carotid endarterectomy (CEA), and vascular surgery
- Experience managing NSTEMI and STEMI patients
- Pacemaker care experience
- Sepsis management experience
- Experience with gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB)
- Post diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) care experience
- Respiratory failure management experience
- Tracheostomy care experience
