Physical Therapist - Inpatient Rehab
Location: Rockville, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation
- Shift: Day shift, Tuesday through Saturday
- Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week (9:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Patient Ratios:
- Weekdays: 1 PT to 5 patients
- Weekends: 1 PT to 3 patients
- No floating between units required
- No on-call duties
- Block scheduling accommodations available
- Facility is smoke/nicotine free; any nicotine use (including vaping, gum, patches) will result in automatic cancellation if detected on drug screen
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Maryland with primary source verification
- Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in a Rehabilitation setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start (facility does not provide fit testing onsite; no pending fit tests allowed)
- Drug screen (11 panel including cotinine/nicotine and marijuana) within 30 days of start; failure results in cancellation
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON-TB Gold or TSPOT within 90 days) or two-step TB skin test; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire as applicable
- Required immunizations or positive titers:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (positive quantitative titer within 5 years; series must be completed if low titer)
- Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) within last 10 years
- Visual acuity exam within 6 months of start, repeated annually (minimum corrected vision 20/40 both eyes)
- Color blind exam within 5 years of start
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Complete employment application/resume and skills checklist updated annually
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; international searches required
- Federal exclusion screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification: transcript/diploma or third-party education verification required (highest degree completed)
- Maryland CJIS/DSS/FBI fingerprinting required for behavioral health units; must be completed in Maryland at least 5 business days before start with clear results
- Facility-specific tobacco-free workplace attestation form acknowledging nicotine-free status for past 90 days
- Clear, recent (within 6 months) passport-style photo for badge
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only, valid at start date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - as applicable (not specifically required for PT but noted in facility certifications)
- Other certifications (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) not required for this role
- State professional license for Physical Therapist required with primary source verification; no licenses expiring within 30 days of start accepted
- NURSYS verification required for RNs (not applicable for PT)
Additional Notes
- Facility enforces strict no nicotine policy; drug screen includes cotinine/nicotine testing
- No on-site fit testing; candidates must have current fit test documentation or approved medical/religious exemption with PAPR training if applicable
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) unless approved exemption is granted
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declinations require facility approval
- No floating or on-call required; schedule fixed Tue-Sat
- Prior travel experience is not required
