Registered Nurse (MedSurg) - Oregon
Job Details
- Location: Pendleton, Oregon
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical (MedSurg)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours: 36 hours per week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Unit Size: 19 beds
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Days: 1 RN to 4-5 patients
- Nights: 1 RN to 5 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Negotiable
- Call Requirement: If placed on low census, must report within 30 minutes of call
- Orientation: 3-6 shifts, longer if needed
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Diabetic complications and diabetic wounds
- Pneumonia (bacterial and viral)
- COPD exacerbations
- Hip fractures
- COVID-19
- Post-operative care for TURPs, hip and knee replacements, cholecystectomy, appendectomy
- May include general pediatric patients
Clinical & Unit Information
- Drip titration: Infrequent; common drips include Heparin and Bumex
- Respiratory equipment: CPAP, BiPAP, high flow oxygen
- Telemetry: Monitored by CCU staff; telemetry board visible to MedSurg staff
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor present on both day and night shifts
- Nurse Aide Support: 1-3 CNAs on day shift, 1 CNA on night shift
- Floating: RNs not fully cross-trained assist as "helping hands"; option to fully cross-train
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Option to apply for Oregon 90-Day Emergency License if not currently licensed in Oregon
Experience Requirements
- General medical-surgical nursing experience required
- Experience with general pediatric patients is a plus
