Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry
Location
- Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type
- Travel contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call duties
- Required to float to other units as needed
Patient Population
- Patients with Myocardial Infarction (MI), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Arrhythmias, Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), and some medical-surgical overflow
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio
- Typically 5:1, occasionally up to 6:1
Job Summary
- Independently provides routine and complex nursing care in a telemetry setting
- Utilizes nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administers medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Provides patient and family education based on assessed learning needs
- Makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- ACLS certification
