Job Description
- Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse with strong orthopedic skills; general OR experience is secondary.
- Shifts: Five 8-hour shifts per week with start times at 6:45 AM, 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 2:45 PM.
- Weekend work: As needed.
- On-call: Required as needed.
- Floating: Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is expected.
- Block scheduling: Accommodations available.
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted.
- Pending license candidates are accepted.
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 5 days.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota.
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Orthopedic experience is mandatory.

Required Certifications and Compliance
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC; RQI acceptable; certificate of completion not accepted).
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
- Adult Tdap vaccination required (with exemptions accepted only with physician or religious documentation and facility approval).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (TB results must be on file no later than 3 days after start).
- Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required; no exemptions for patient-facing staff).
- Hepatitis B immunity or signed declination.
- Varicella immunity (positive titer or 2 vaccines) required; no exemptions accepted.
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted; exemptions not accepted).
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start.
- Drug testing: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (not required for client clearance).
- Medication and pharmacology competency exam required.
- Annual skills checklist required.
Licensure
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse license valid in Minnesota.
- Pending licenses accepted.
Background Checks and Screening
- Criminal background check required within one year of start date, including Minnesota statewide search.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year.
- Minnesota DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start; candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless a “more time needed” letter is provided.
- Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of signing contract.
- Preorientation modules/online eLearning must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login; modules take 3-9 hours depending on specialty.
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must complete the Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing the contract.
- Parking: First day parking validated for free in Blue Ramp; subsequent parking fees apply depending on shift and location.
- Guaranteed hours: Client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty; on-call hours do not count toward guaranteed minimum hours.
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with orthopedic skills seeking a travel contract in an acute care teaching hospital setting in Minnesota.
