Registered Nurse – Cardiac Med/Surg 2

Location: Peoria, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team, managing and delivering patient care through the nursing process. Focus on evidence-based practice, patient assessment, individualized care planning, and collaboration with healthcare team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient status via interview, observation, and physical assessment.
• Develop and modify individualized care plans collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Implement appropriate interventions to meet expected patient outcomes.
• Continuously evaluate and document patient progress throughout the shift.
• Perform patient bedside lab testing and specimen collection following provider orders and lab policies.
• Troubleshoot and demonstrate technical knowledge of medical equipment.
• Promote patient and staff safety, including proper use of lift equipment.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and utilize resources effectively.
• Prioritize work based on patient condition changes and assignment demands.
• Provide goal-focused shift reports and advocate for patients with physicians as needed.
• Use effective communication and teamwork strategies to enhance team performance and patient care.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet patient/family learning needs and comprehension levels.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Illinois RN license in good standing
• Minimum 3 years of cardiology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing
• Demonstrated application of evidence-based practice
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, email, web browsing)
• Critical thinking and independent judgment skills
• Multicultural sensitivity

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN degree
