Description
Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Austin, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel Clinical Allied
Contract Length: 18 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Weekend/Call: No weekends or call required
Job Summary
- Perform complete echocardiographic studies using all cardiac echo imaging modalities to obtain comprehensive patient data.
- Document patient data and echo exam information accurately using Echo Information Management System and other computer applications.
- Function independently with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to obtain comprehensive echocardiograms.
- Collaborate with cardiac sonographers, echocardiographers, physicians, and team members to assist in interpretation of findings.
- Assist in orientation, training, and education of trainees, students, and visitors in Cardiovascular Services.
- Participate in stress lab and stress echo lab procedures, outreach, and on-call practices as needed (24-hour call with 30-minute response time required).
- Provide care to patients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.
- Demonstrate flexibility in learning all equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures.
- Follow sterile procedures and isolation precautions to avoid exposure to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments.
- Maintain physical ability to tolerate frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching above shoulder level, and occasional twisting/turning.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing; possess good hearing and visual acuity.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer, with experience within the last year.
- Associate's degree.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification.
- Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working in an inpatient setting.
- Experience with GE Healthcare ultrasound equipment.
