Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Bristol, Tennessee
Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night shift, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- No on-call duties
- General orientation starts on Mondays with online computer-based learning (CBLs)
- Orientation includes 16 hours of non-billable time
- The hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without financial penalty due to census decreases
- Additional overtime shifts may be available and flexed as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Tennessee
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Current AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current AHA PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
Licensure & Certifications
- Must hold a valid Respiratory Therapist license appropriate for Tennessee
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Other certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit specifics (e.g., NRP, TNCC) but are not mandatory for this role
Orientation & Compliance Requirements
- Completion of hospital-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgment annually
- Photo for badge must meet facility standards (neutral background, no filters, no visible facial piercings or tattoos, neutral hair color)
- Completion of facility-specific forms including dress code, contaminated sharps/body fluid exposure statement, smoking and tobacco use policy, influenza policy, and respirator medical evaluation questionnaire (time sensitive)
- Respiratory fit testing completed onsite; must comply with CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start date (does not require annual update)
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug test within 14 days prior to start (instant test acceptable as placeholder)
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or documented vaccination/boosters
- Varicella titer or documented vaccination/boosters
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)
- References: Minimum 2 references preferred, 3 recommended
- Skills checklist required prior to start
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for a 36/36 or 36/48 schedule as per employment agreement
- The hospital reserves the right to flex shifts based on census without penalty
- Background checks and verifications required within 30 days of start, including education verification and adult abuse registry check if licensed in Tennessee
- Employment contingent on successful completion of all compliance and credentialing requirements
