Description
Registered Nurse - NICU (Pediatrics)
Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: June 29, 2026
Job Description
- Pediatric RN with NICU experience required
- Rotating shifts: 3x12 hour shifts, day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Unit: Pediatric Pediatric/Surgical with preferred experience in PCU, prematurity, apnea of prematurity (AOP), retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), bronchopulmonary dysplasia/chronic lung disease (BLD/CLD), cardiac defects, feeding issues, neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), iatrogenic NAS, and tracheostomy care (trach experience required)
- Holidays worked as scheduled
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within specialty, including to a sister campus
- On-call not required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatrics experience, including experience working with Neonate patients
- NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience
- Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check: 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers required (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination proof
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (for 2025-26 season)
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation may be collected for tracking
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start required
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history required
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport/badge style with solid white/beige background)
- Signed job description and confidentiality agreements prior to start
- Security ID application to be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Completion of competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, age-specific, dysrhythmia/EKG except for this location)
- Floating within specialty and to sister campus required
Shift Details
- 36 hours per week
- Rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night)
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized pediatric NICU setting with a focus on complex neonatal conditions and requires a dedicated RN with relevant certifications and experience.
