Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU/PCU

Location: Prescott Valley, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit and Patient Care Details

• Unit: Multi Care Unit combining ICU, PCU, and Med Surg (MST) acuities within one unit (no floating between units during shifts)
• Number of beds: 10
• Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by acuity:

  • ICU: 1:2
  • PCU: 1:4
  • Med Surg (MST): 1:5-6 (or 1:3 if no nurse aide available)
• Common patient diagnoses:

  • Medical ICU: Sepsis, suicide attempts, drug/alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID-19, DKA, abnormal blood pressure or heart rate, post-op complications
  • PCU: Patients on non-titratable infusions to maintain heart rate or blood pressure
• Respiratory therapy support available (vents, BiPAP, CPAP)
• Remote Monitor Techs support PCU and MST patients; RNs monitor ICU patients and perform 12-lead EKGs
• Charge Nurse oversees 50 inpatient beds including MST, Pediatrics, and the acuity adaptable MCU unit

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required

  • Candidates with 1 year ICU plus 1 year PCU/Med Surg experience from larger facilities with strong skills may be considered
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
• Ability to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin
• Must be able to provide primary care to PCU and Med Surg patients if no nurse aide is available

Scheduling and Work Environment

• 12-hour day shifts (07:00–19:00)
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (Friday and Saturday nights, Saturday and Sunday days)
• Holiday rotation to ensure fair distribution
• Standby/call rotation during low census periods
• Floating required to Emergency Care MST, Pediatric unit (adult MST assignments), and West Campus ICU/PCU with two-hour notice
• Dress code: Any scrub color except camouflage

Additional Requirements and Restrictions

• Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any related facilities within the past year
• No permanent employment at related facilities within the last 12 months
