Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Georgia, Albany

Job Details

  • Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
  • Location: Albany, Georgia
  • Contract Length: 17 weeks
  • Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Hours: 12 hours per day, approximately 36 hours per week
  • Cases: 55-60 cases per day (~1000 per month)
  • OR Suites: 19 suites
  • EMR System: Meditech

Job Description

  • Full-service OR facility performing a wide range of cases except major pediatrics, transplants, and C-sections in the main OR.
  • Functions as a Level 2 trauma center with some ortho/neuro trauma and robotics cases.
  • Surgeons are on call 24/7 and cover their own cases.
  • Ventilator patients primarily recover in ICU.
  • Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services available 24/7.
  • Charge Nurse role is managed by the nurse manager.
  • Scrubbing by RNs is preferred but not required.
  • Floor-specific orientation lasts one week.
  • Weekend coverage required approximately once per quarter.
  • Call requirement averages every 7th weekend; no weekday call.
  • Call response time is 30 minutes.
  • Call for specialty teams (ortho/neuro and cardio/thoracic) only if within RN’s competency.
  • Holiday shifts rotate with permanent staff; flexibility required.
  • Scrub color and scrubs are provided.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years of OR nursing experience.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Must be within a 75-mile radius of the hospital based on the address on the traveler's driver’s license.
  • Skills checklist must accurately reflect proficiency; a rating of 3 indicates proficiency.
  • Reliable, punctual, flexible, and able to cover a broad range of services with basic competency.

Additional Notes

  • OR techs must be Certified Surgical Technologists (CST).
  • No floating assignments.
  • Travelers are expected to serve the facility’s needs with good attendance and professionalism.
