Description
Registered Nurse (Observation Unit - MedSurg)
Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Unit Details
- Unit: 2C Observation Unit
- Beds: 22
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6
- Charge Nurse occasionally takes patient assignments
- CNA support: 2 CNAs if available
- No ventilators on unit
- Heavy telemetry monitoring; monitored by central monitoring staff
- Common patient types: Medical observation with miscellaneous diagnoses
- Common titratable drip: Heparin only
- Fast-paced unit with high turnover; up to 16 discharges per day and frequent admissions
Schedule & Work Hours
- Shift: Nights (7 PM to 7 AM)
- Hours per day: 12
- Hours per week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Rotate with permanent staff
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating: Yes, to MedSurg units
- Orientation: 3 shifts
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
Dress Code
- Caribbean Blue top and bottom OR
- White top and Caribbean Blue bottom OR
- All white top and bottom
Additional Notes
- RN responsibilities include performing own EKGs and drawing labs
- Strict 75-mile radius rule for travel nurse’s driver’s license address submission
- Charge nurse occasionally manages patient assignments
- Unit is fast paced with frequent admissions and discharges
