Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Issaquah, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily in Orthopedics, General Surgery, Urology, Gynecology, Spine, ENT, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, OB-GYN, Plastics, Robotics, Trauma, and Vascular specialties.
- Circulating and scrub roles with a preference for scrub experience in trauma and ENT (including endoscope experience).
- Patient population: 30% inpatient, 70% outpatient, 10% pediatrics.
- May require on-call availability and weekend coverage for on-call support only.
- Floating to other campuses may be required.
Required Experience & Skills
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Orthopedic Surgery experience required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Shift Details
- Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- Total 40 hours per week
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Active Registered Nurse license valid in Washington or compact license accepted.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable for I9 verification).
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report.
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (special rules for Alaska placements)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination on file
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instant tests acceptable.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only).
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates, updated annually.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned learning management system.
- Photo for badge with neutral background required prior to start.
- References: Minimum of 2 references covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with explanations for any gaps or overlaps.
- Skills checklist updated annually as applicable.
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other facilities within reasonable distance.
Notes
- Previous permanent staff at the facility are not permitted to work as travelers here.
- Active compact nursing licenses are honored.
- On-call and weekend coverage are limited to on-call support only.
- Some certifications (e.g., Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring) may be required depending on unit assignment; verify with clinical leadership.
