Description
Cardiac Sonographer Position - Nebraska, Omaha
Job Overview
- Perform cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound procedures to acquire echocardiographic and/or vascular data.
- Provide education and training in ultrasound procedures for fellows, interns, and other staff.
- Utilize equipment such as Philips EPIQs, Intellispace, and EPIC for EMR.
- Work schedule: Day shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited cardiac ultrasound program (one year of education equals one year of experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of solid cardiac sonographer experience (2 years considered if experience is at an academic teaching hospital).
- At least 2 years of prior travel experience (not a first travel assignment).
- Registered in cardiac ultrasound (ARDMS or RCS via CCI acceptable).
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Prior cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound experience in a healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Demonstrated ability to think deductively and make clinical decisions.
- Experience with ultrasound equipment, including transesophageal transducers.
- Familiarity with research computer systems, hospital information systems, and digital echo storage systems.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular and vascular circulatory system principles, including physics and blood flow hemodynamics.
- Experience with typical office equipment.
Additional Information
- Orientation includes 12 hours of non-billable training.
- Call-off allowance: up to 36 hours every 13 weeks.
- Candidates must be outside a 100-mile radius; local candidates are not accepted.
