Description
Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (Travel Contract)
Location: Austin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), rotating weekends
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- Unit: Labor and Delivery
- Number of Beds: 32
- Staffing: Approximately 150 staff members
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Shift Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1 co-charge nurse, RNs for 1:1 or 1:2 patient care
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 1 co-charge nurse, RNs for 1:1 or 1:2 patient care
- Equipment Used: Novii, JADA, Fetal Pillow, IUPC, FSE, Toco, Ultrasound
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
- Permanent Positions Available: Yes
Job Description
- Backfill travel contract for Labor and Delivery unit
- No call requirements
- Typical procedures include spontaneous vaginal deliveries (SVD), cerclages, C-sections, and trial of labor after cesarean (TOLAC)
- Night shift with alternating weekends
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certification
- De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
Work Environment & Culture
- Team-oriented with emphasis on positive attitude
- Dress code requires navy blue scrubs; solid blue, black, or grey sweatshirts allowed; T-shirts are not acceptable
- Adherence to attendance policy is mandatory
