Description
Registered Nurse (MedSurg/Telemetry)
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit: Telemetry - Surgical/Neuro (4th Floor)
Unit Size: 48 beds (two units: 4A and 4B)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-15
Job Overview
- Care for patients with diagnoses including COVID-19, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal conditions, diabetes, TIA, CVA, general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical cases.
- Telemetry monitored remotely; telemetry techs located on a different floor.
- RNs interpret telemetry strips and must sign off at least once per shift.
- No requirement for RNs to titrate drips; common set-rate drip includes Diltiazem.
- Respiratory equipment used includes BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and some breathing treatments.
- Charge nurses do not take patient assignments.
- Floating to other units (East Campus, possibly PCU) may be required if qualified.
- Self-scheduling is used but finalized by management.
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule.
- Holiday coverage expected for Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving with specific shift combinations.
- No call or standby requirement.
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Arizona
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Experience with orthopedics
Additional Information
- Shift length: 12 hours with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
- Telemetry techs read and post strips; RNs interpret and sign.
- Floating may be required.
- Charge nurse and house supervisor roles present on unit.
- Nurse aides support patient care with specified ratios.
