MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Clearwater, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Evening, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (1:00 pm – 11:30 pm)
  • Daily Caseload: 15-25 patients per tech
  • Work Settings: Outpatient, Inpatient, ER, Community Hospital, Adult ICU
  • Equipment: Siemens MRI (two 3Tesla magnets: Trio and Skyra)
  • Charting System: Cerner EMR
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, 2 call shifts per month
  • Floating: Not required within or to sister facilities
  • Patient Focus: Independent work with strong communication skills; patient safety is the top priority
  • Specialty Exams: Neuro exams (brains, perfusions, diffusion), vascular exams, pre/post neurosurgery exams
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
  • Uniform Colors: Navy Blue, Burgundy, or Khaki

Required Qualifications

  • MRI Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • MRI Technologist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
  • ARRT Advanced Certification
  • Experience in an Inpatient setting
  • Experience in an Outpatient setting

Candidate Requirements & Preferences

  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Locals: Not accepted
  • Pending State License: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Apply after first call off per pay period
  • Weekend Shifts & Block Scheduling: To be discussed during interview if applicable

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Standard background check within 1 year including 7 years of residence/work/school history
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
    • Foreign equivalency evaluation required for international education
  • Education Verification: Required for all candidates
  • Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan accepted nationwide)
  • Physical Exam: Within 6 months of start date
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 10 weeks of start; chest X-ray if prior positive PPD
  • Drug Testing: Standard 9-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines, booster if needed)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines, booster if needed)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
  • COVID-19: Vaccination required (exemptions accepted)
  • Respirator Clearance: Required if respirator use is necessary; annual medical clearance
  • References: Two professional references from the past 2 years required
  • Employment Application & Skills Checklist: Must be uploaded and available for facility review
  • Photo for Badge: Professional photo with solid background required prior to start
  • Dress Code & Tobacco Policy: Must be acknowledged and followed
  • Mandatory Online Training Modules: Must be completed prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours)

Competency & Certification Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥ 80%) as applicable
  • Color Blindness test (Relias) required prior to start
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units (not applicable here)
  • Stroke education CEUs and related certifications as applicable (not specified for this role)

  • Candidates must have Remote Time Off (RTO) in profile for offer consideration
  • Parking cost is included
  • Facility has 599 staffed beds
  • Great communication skills and ability to work independently are essential
  • Weekend requirements and block scheduling are flexible and discussed during interview

This position is ideal for MRI Technologists with at least 2 years of experience, strong Siemens MRI skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced acute care environment.
