Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Unit Census: 32 rooms, average daily census of 29
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Electronic Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Call Requirements: None
- Holiday Work: If one major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if two, expected to work both; if three, expected to work two.
- Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days; blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Experience in Charge Nurse roles
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
- State license verification and annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (required by agency, not client)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months, plus annual TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters as needed
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Competency exams required by agency: medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG (specific to Telemetry and related units)
- Color blind testing required
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Verification of most recent work history required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
- Two clinical references required
