Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Rehabilitation Medical-Surgical (Nights)
Location: Windsor, Vermont
Employment Type: Temporary

Job Overview
- Provide nursing care combining medical-surgical and intensive rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, serious illness, or injury.
- Focus on restoring patient function and independence through therapies (physical, occupational, speech) and specialized nursing care.
- May be asked to serve as backup Charge Nurse.
- Coordinate total nursing care and participate in patient and family teaching.
- Collaborate with ancillary nursing and patient team personnel to maintain professional nursing standards.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 or 1:5.
- Average daily patient census: 22.
- Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Vermont.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Rehabilitation nursing, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing.
- At least 3 months of total travel nursing experience.
- Experience in Charge Nurse roles.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience working in a Rehabilitation setting.
Additional Requirements and Notes
- Traveler must have their own vehicle; public transportation is not available in this small community.
- Local travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible.
- Scheduling requests, including any requested time off (RTO), must be submitted and verified at the time of application; no scheduling changes or RTO requests will be approved after offer or at interview.
- No more than 5 days of requested time off will be accepted during the assignment; less is preferred.
- The facility enforces a strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract termination is possible. Call-offs must be communicated to the unit supervisor at least 1.5 hours in advance.
- Orientation: 8 hours non-billable.
- Call-back, holiday, and overtime pay multipliers apply (details withheld).
Work Environment
- Small community hospital with 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
- Facility includes a therapeutic pool and physical therapy department, offering acute care, transitional care, and hospice services.
- Located in a historic town with access to outdoor recreation and within a 3-hour drive to major cities.

- This is a Med Surg position; block scheduling requests will not be considered.
- Candidates seeking to work alongside another permanent or travel assignment should not apply.
