Description

Registered Nurse - Step Down

Location: Waco, Texas
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM


Job Description / Clinical Experience

  • Care for patients requiring HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula) and BIPAP
  • Management of stable GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test)
  • Post-operative care for POD#1 CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft), AVR (Aortic Valve Replacement), MVR (Mitral Valve Replacement)
  • Cardiovascular and vascular experience including AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) repair, lobectomy, and CEA (Carotid Endarterectomy)
  • Management of acute cardiac events: NSTEMI, STEMI, ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome), pacers
  • Care for sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB), post diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), respiratory failure, and tracheostomies

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Cardiac Stepdown (2 years of experience)
  • Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
  • Stepdown experience
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Certification
  • Driver's License

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Proof of immunizations and health screenings:
    • Two MMR vaccines or positive IgG titer (no declinations accepted)
    • Two Varicella vaccines or serological evidence of immunity (no declinations accepted)
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
    • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Tuberculosis screening:
    • 2-step PPD or negative IGRA within 90 days prior to start
    • If positive, negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire
  • Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite)
  • Annual 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and updated annually
  • Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually

Documentation and Verification

  • Current, unexpired driver’s license or state ID matching address on file
  • Resume/profile submission required prior to assignment
  • Signed assignment agreement required before onboarding
  • Confirmation of assignment documentation required at start and with each extension
  • Completion of exit survey at assignment end (optional)
