ICU Travel Nurse - Indiana
Job Details
- Location: Franklin, Indiana (near Indianapolis, approx. 30-minute drive)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
- Unit: Combined CCU and PCU (12 beds total; 6 CCU, 6 PCU)
- Patient Ratios:
- CCU: 1:2
- PCU: 1:3-4
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday during contract
- Call Requirement: Generally placed on call if needed; no standby call outside of this
- Floating: May float to Medsurg or ER (ER only if experienced)
- Orientation:
- General facility orientation: 1 day
- Unit-specific orientation: 1-2 days
- Initial schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Sepsis
- Respiratory distress
- Overdose/ETOH withdrawal
- Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
Skills & Responsibilities
- Must be able to titrate drips (e.g., Levophed, insulin, dopamine, heparin)
- RNs read telemetry strips
- Work with respiratory therapy equipment: ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, oximizer
- Charge nurse present each shift; house supervisor nights and weekends
- Nurse aides available on unit
Required Certifications
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience preferred
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
This position is ideal for an experienced ICU RN comfortable with telemetry monitoring, titrating drips, and working in a combined critical and progressive care environment on night shifts.
