Description
Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Day shift, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
- Caseload: Department performs 75-100 inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms daily
- Floating: Floating within scope is required; no floating to sister facilities
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, depending on schedule
- On-call: Possible occasional on-call duties
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of Echo Tech/Cardiac Sonographer experience required
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Experience in inpatient and emergency room settings required; outpatient, teaching hospital, PICU, neonate, and NICU experience preferred
- Must be proficient with portable echocardiography and Syngo software
- Required echo procedures experience:
- 3D Echo
- Bubble Study
- Contrast Agents
- M-Mode
- Pharmacologic Stress Echos
- RIT/RVOT
- Transesophageal Echo (TEE)
- Treadmill Stress Echos
- Preferred equipment experience: Siemens and Phillips
- General skills preferred: IV starts, PACS, biopsies
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified (RQI acceptable; certificate of completion not accepted)
- RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) - Adults required
- RDCS-Peds preferred
- State license accepted if pending (Minnesota license required)
- Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG within 1 year of start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap (no declinations accepted without approved exemption)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer required, no exemptions for patient-facing roles
- Hepatitis B – proof of immunity or vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella – proof of immunity or vaccination series, no exemptions accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required starting September 1, 2025 (declinations accepted)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start
- MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed)
Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Echo Technologist
- Echo Technologist experience within the last year
- Current BLS certification
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential
- Experience working in an inpatient setting
- Experience working in an acute care setting
Additional Requirements
- Criminal background check required within one year of start date (7-year statewide MN search minimum)
- Must complete facility-specific preorientation online modules within 72 hours of receiving login (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
- Passport-style photo for badge required within 48 hours of signing contract
- Medication and competency exams required
- Skills checklist required annually
- Must comply with facility uniform guidelines

Notes
- Candidate may have up to 3 shifts canceled without penalty to the agency; on-call hours do not count toward guaranteed hours
- Candidates with latex allergy should be aware the facility is latex-free
- Candidates must be able to complete fingerprinting within 2 weeks of registration; may require travel to a livescan location if not local
This position is ideal for experienced Echo Techs/Cardiac Sonographers seeking a travel contract in a high-volume, acute care, teaching hospital environment with a variety of echo procedure experiences.
