Description
Registered Nurse - NICU (Travel)
Location: Webster, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Information
- Unit: Neonatal ICU
- Number of Beds: 42
- Staff per Shift:
- Day: 1 charge nurse, 10-15 RNs, 1 Patient Care Technician (PCT)
- Night: 1 charge nurse, 10-15 RNs, 1 PCT
- Patient Ratios:
- Level 3 acuity: 1 nurse to 1-3 patients (depending on acuity)
- Level 2 acuity: 1 nurse to 3-4 patients
- Equipment: Isolettes, OMNI beds, phototherapy, computers
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Meditech and CPN
- Floating Area: Newborn nursery
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- STABLE certification preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in the specialty (Neonatal ICU)
Skills & Procedures
- Must have: NRP certification
- Preferred: STABLE certification
- Experience with central lines such as UAC, UVC, Broviacs, PICC lines
- Typical procedures: IV starts, PICC insertions (for trained clinicians)
Work Schedule & Environment
- Minimum 4 weekend shifts per schedule
- Occasional on-call duties
- Team-oriented environment; ideal candidate is a team player and self-motivated
- Unit provides a resource nurse for support
Additional Notes
- Candidates without NRP certification will not be considered
- Unit policies and guidelines are available for review on assignment
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
