Mammogram Technologist
Location: Craig, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
The Mammogram Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality mammography imaging procedures for diagnostic purposes. This role includes patient education, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining equipment, and supporting quality improvement initiatives within the women's health section of radiology.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mammography equipment according to department protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform all mammography exams, ensuring radiation safety and adherence to ALARA standards.
- Maintain records for accreditation, inspections, and quality assurance.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance as needed.
- Verify exam orders, confirm patient identity, and provide exam education.
- Review and document patient medical history and obtain informed consent.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Assist with clerical duties, phone reception, patient transportation, and cross-train imaging staff as needed.
- Order, stock, and maintain supply inventory.
- Participate in departmental and organizational quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and risk management procedures.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other imaging modalities and adjusting schedules as required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Mammography Technologist license in Colorado
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Mammography Technologist, with experience within the last year
- ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience as a Radiology Technologist, including CT and MRI modalities
Additional Information
- Cross-training in other imaging modalities (CT, MRI, DEXA) is preferred.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional communication.
- Adherence to organizational dress code and punctuality is required.
This position requires a strong focus on quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and teamwork within the radiology department.
