Description

Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Description

  • 36 private rooms serving patients from young adults to geriatrics
  • Focus on medical-level cardiac care and recovery from cardiac interventions such as cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implantation
  • Also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio approximately 1:5-6

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Telemetry experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • E-Verify compliance (for direct hires)
  • Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Education verification with transcript or diploma if needed
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start date
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start date, renewed annually (specific mask types required depending on location)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
    • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented chickenpox history required
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Annual unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams
  • Work history verification for the past 7 years

Additional Notes

  • Candidates residing in certain Texas counties (including Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris) are not eligible for this travel assignment
  • Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
  • Clear headshot photo required for badge issuance

This position offers the opportunity to work in a specialized cardiac telemetry unit with a focus on post-procedural cardiac care in a supportive environment. Night shift experience and cardiac nursing skills are essential.
