Registered Nurse – MedSurg/Telemetry

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards in a hospital setting. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in ongoing education to meet personal learning needs and support patient education.
• Assess patient/family readiness and developmental level for learning.
• Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in interdisciplinary team discussions to evaluate care.
• Communicate relevant information to ensure continuity of care.
• Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required.
• Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
• Consult appropriate resources for complex care issues and discharge planning.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and promote cost-effective care.
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Recognize and synthesize complex assessment data to determine care priorities.
• Collaborate with patients and families to develop and update care plans, addressing cultural and ethnic considerations.
• Use multidisciplinary resources and effective communication in care planning.
• Stay informed on relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina.
• Experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
• Ability to work night shifts and 12-hour shifts.
• Competence in managing patients with complex medical needs.
