Description
Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)
Location
- Dallas, Texas
- Post-surgical unit (Ortho/Spine focus)
- 22 beds, 36 staff members
- Patient ratio: 1:5 with ancillary support
- Equipment includes PCA pump, ice machine, Welch Allyn vital sign machine, Telemetry box, IV pump
- EMR system: Meditech
- No on-call requirement
- Frequent floating within the system, primarily to Telemetry units and occasionally other med-surg units
Unit Description
- Heavy patient volume mid-week
- Unit specializes in orthopedic and spine surgeries including:
- Tarlov/meningeal cyst removal
- Joint reconstruction
- Hip and knee surgery
- Lumbar and cervical disc surgery
- Orthopedic spine surgery
- Best fit: energetic, team player
- Schedule options vary by census; must be able to work needed shifts with minimal time off requests (excessive RTO not approved)
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Hours
- 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Med Surg experience (1 year within the last year)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Orthopedic experience
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
Additional Notes
- Candidates without required certifications and skills will not be considered
- Unit is competitive; experience with orthopedic post-surgical care is highly valued
- Floating is common, so flexibility is important
