Description

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00–07:30), approximately 48 hours/week
Unit: 34-bed Medical/Surgical unit with telemetry
Patient Ratio: 1:5–7


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on a med/surg telemetry unit
  • Work schedule includes weekdays and weekends (3 shifts per 4-week period)
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Cerner

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry nursing, with experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications & Training

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 1 year)
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) but not mandatory for this med/surg role
  • Completion of Cerner Learning Training Modules prior to orientation
  • Completion of facility-specific Care Learning Modules before start date

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during work hours)
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks updated as required
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual updates)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD within 1 year or equivalent)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (preferred)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations (within 2 years)
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
    • Varicella titer or vaccination (within 2 years)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
    • COVID vaccine or declination required
  • Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start and updated annually
  • Completion of ReadySet (RS) Surveys (online health assessment) prior to start
  • Submission of 2 clinical or managerial references within past 2 years
  • Skills checklist updated annually, specific to specialty
  • Employment application or resume

  • Scrubs are not provided
  • Must submit all required certifications and documentation prior to start; no pending certifications allowed
  • Facility enforces strict attendance policy due to prior attendance issues
  • Candidate must complete facility-specific forms including confidentiality agreements, background drug screen consent, and parking pass application before starting
