Description
Registered Nurse (IMC) - Travel/Contract
Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: July 13, 2026
Shift: Days, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Schedule Requirements:
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays required as scheduled
- Floating within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- On-call status may be assigned rarely in low census situations (no pre-scheduled on-call shifts)
Unit & Patient Population
- Unit Type: Intermediate Care (IMC)
- Average Daily Census: 22 patients
- Bed Count: 22
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Patient Age Range: Adult and Geriatrics
- Common Diagnoses: Cardiac, Respiratory, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Special Procedures/Equipment: Precedex and insulin drips, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, chest tubes, TCAR/Post-cardiac cath lab care
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 1 year of Intermediate Care experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Competencies & Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score ≥80%)
- Age-Specific Competency Exam (must score ≥80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must score ≥80%)
- Unit-specific competency exams as applicable (e.g., Med Surg/Telemetry exam)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-45 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) as applicable
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal requirement)
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination where allowed)
- TB screening: Negative QGOLD/TSPOT or 2-step PPD within 1 year; chest x-ray and questionnaire if prior positive
Background & Documentation
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification for highest level completed
- Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
- Two professional references within 1 year, including one direct supervisor/manager
- Employment history verification for previous 5 years
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Facility-specific documents including confidentiality agreements, dress code review, appearance standards, and unit job description must be signed prior to start
- Security ID application and photo for badge required
Additional Notes
- Floating may be required within specialty and to lower acuity units
- On-call shifts are rare and pre-scheduled on-call shifts are not required
- Candidates must complete facility-specific orientation and training requirements, including Epic Portfolio training test-out if eligible
- All required documentation and attestations must be completed timely to avoid delays in credentialing and start date
This position offers a structured day shift schedule in an Intermediate Care setting with a focus on cardiac and respiratory patient care, suitable for RNs with at least 3 years of experience or strong candidates with 2 years under manager review. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
