Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM), weekdays
- On-Call: Every 5th weekend on call rotation (discuss specifics during interview)
- Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
- Staffing Ratio: 1:1
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Float: May be floated to General Lab CDL unit
- Schedule: No blocked schedules accommodated
- Travel Radius: 100-mile radius rule (75-99 miles requires facility approval)
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Clinical & Procedural Details
- Special Procedures: Angiogram, Fistulogram, Permacath, EVAR, TCAR, TAVR, MitraClip, Mechanical Thrombectomy, Embolization
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), Stenosis, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), Stroke, Aneurysm
Orientation & Training
- Orientation occurs every other week on Thursdays and Fridays (2 days total)
- First 2 days in a classroom setting, then unit orientation
- Required to complete in-service training modules (approx. 4 hours) 1 week before start, including pass/fail testing for EKG, medication calculation, and blood administration
- Must review facility-specific policies such as blood administration and dress code prior to start
- Pass/fail testing required for nursing candidates only (two attempts allowed per exam)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Completed within 1 year of start, signed by a licensed provider, confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Drug Screen: Within 30 days of start, includes a comprehensive panel; no placeholders or pending results accepted
- Immunizations & Testing:
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) unless medically exempt with documentation
- COVID-19 vaccine NOT required
- Tdap vaccination required (medical or religious exemptions accepted with approval)
- Negative TB test within 3 months of start or negative chest X-ray if positive TB history
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers required
- Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity documentation required
- Varicella vaccination or immunity documentation required
- Fit Mask Testing: Annual fit testing required (3M N95 1860 Small/Regular or Aura 9205); PAPR accommodations available if fit test failed
- Background Checks: 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, sex offender search, national and international checks if applicable
- Additional Checks: EPLS/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated annually

- Minimum 2 manager/charge nurse references (within past 2 years)
- RN license verification (NURSYS verification within 2 days of submission, clean license required)
- Valid Driver’s License (required for consideration)

Additional Notes
- Permanent employees cannot return as travelers for 2 years after last permanent day worked at this facility
- Scrub color: Royal Blue/White for RNs
- Charting system: Cerner

- Candidates with latex allergy must notify manager to avoid exposure
