Description
Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (Travel Contract)
Location: Austin, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Rotating nights and days (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM), alternating weekends
Hours per Week: 36
Call Requirements: None
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: Labor and Delivery
- Number of Beds: 32
- Number of Staff: 150
- Patient Ratios: 1:2
- Staffing (Day & Night Shift):
- 1 charge nurse
- 1 co-charge nurse
- RNs to maintain 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratio
- Equipment Used: Novii, JADA, Fetal Pillow, IUPC, FSE, Toco, Ultrasound
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech
- Permanent positions available on unit
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- STABLE certification
- Competencies:
- Intermediate fetal monitoring
- C-Section circulation
Preferred Qualifications
- Internal fetal monitor placement competency
- Experience in a high-volume (Level IV) Labor and Delivery unit
- Previous assignments or employment within similar healthcare systems
Typical Procedures Performed
- Spontaneous Vaginal Delivery (SVD)
- Cerclages
- Cesarean Sections (C-Sections)
- Trial of Labor After Cesarean (TOLAC)
Work Environment & Culture
- Team-oriented with emphasis on positive attitude
- Dress Code:
- Scrubs must be navy blue
- T-shirts are not acceptable
- Solid blue, black, or grey sweatshirts only
- Adherence to attendance policy required
