Description
Registered Nurse - Med-Surg Telemetry Unit
Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night, 4 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Includes weekends and holidays
- No on-call required
- Patient population includes Cardiac, Diabetes, CHF, COPD, Renal, General Surgery, and Orthopedics
- Unit size: 42-bed Med-Surg Telemetry
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- May be required to float to similar or lower acuity units
- May care for IMCU patients based on census
- Must be proficient with Insulin, Heparin, and Lasik drips
- No local candidates within 50-mile radius
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Med-Surg / Telemetry experience of at least 1 year, with experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background check: 7-year criminal history, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated within 30 days of start and every 30 days while on assignment
- Education verification: Diploma or transcript from highest level of education required within 90 days of start
- Skills checklist and work history verification as applicable
- Facility-specific documents including:
- Code of Conduct Attestation
- Confidentiality Statement
- User Access Request Form
- Certification Acknowledgement
- Standards of Communication
- Vehicle Registration Form
- TB Questionnaire (facility-specific)
- COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire
- COVID declination form if unvaccinated
- NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training required for ER RNs (not mandatory for this role)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test (Qgold/Tspot or 2-step PPD) within 1 year or proof of past positive with required follow-up documentation
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (titer not accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low/equivocal titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or physician-documented history; boosters required if low/equivocal titer
- Hepatitis B titer required (vaccine series alone not accepted); declination allowed if nonreactive
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Feb 28) with medical or religious exemptions accepted; declinations not accepted without approval
- COVID-19 vaccination proof required if vaccinated; unvaccinated must complete declination form
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (includes marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, PCP, opiates, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, oxycodone, methamphetamine)
- Fit mask test as applicable
Additional Information
- Candidates will be reviewed and interviewed by management
- Must include Return to Office (RTO) documentation in submission to be honored at time of offer
- LMS modules must be completed during orientation; facility allows 7 days post-start to complete all modules
- Facility provides latex-free PPE; latex allergies are acceptable
This position offers experience across a diverse patient population in a busy Med-Surg Telemetry setting with a supportive team including RNs, LPNs, PCTs, CNAs, and unit secretaries.
