Description

Registered Nurse I – Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) – Nights (Contract)

Location: Grants, New Mexico
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour rotating nights, with possible holiday and weekend coverage
Hours per Week: 36


Job Summary

Provide compassionate, high-quality, patient- and family-centered nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Coordinate patient education, supervise ancillary staff, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and uphold professional nursing standards in accordance with the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act and evidence-based guidelines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Deliver direct patient care across all ages, promoting optimal health outcomes.
  • Provide culturally sensitive education to patients and families to support health literacy and care transitions.
  • Supervise licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants, and ancillary personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health record documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and the care team.
  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and professional development.
  • Float to other departments as needed with appropriate orientation and training.
  • Perform additional duties to support hospital operations and patient needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Current Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Physical, Environmental & Psychological Considerations

  • Frequent exposure to bloodborne pathogens, body fluids, infectious diseases, and biohazardous materials.
  • Work primarily in a temperature-controlled hospital setting with occasional exposure to varied sounds, odors, and emotionally challenging situations.
  • Must be physically able to lift, position, and transfer patients using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively under stress, respond calmly to emergencies, and maintain strong problem-solving and coping skills.
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and resilient in dynamic clinical situations.
