Description
Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry (Night Shift)
Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: July 13, 2026
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:30–08:00)
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
Job Description
- Fast-paced, high-volume border role covering Emergency Department (ED), Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/T), and Intermediate Care (IMC) units within specialty and scope.
- Patient ratio: 1:6
- Average daily census: 10 to 40 patients
- Unit size: 46 rooms
- Floating required between ED borders, extenders to MS/T, and IMC units.
- No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required.
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical / Telemetry nursing
- Medical-Surgical / Telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
Competencies & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score ≥80%) within 1 year of start
- Color Blind Testing (required for clinical roles)
- Age-Specific Competency Exam (score ≥80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score ≥80%) for RN specialties
- Other competency exams as applicable to specialty
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Fit test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination; series not accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap required if working with pediatric populations (not required for ER RN unless pediatric ER)
- TB testing: Negative QGOLD or TSPOT within 1 year or 2-step PPD as per protocol; must be updated annually
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 6–Mar 31)
- COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Passport-style photo with solid white/beige background for badge
- Signed job description and confidentiality agreements prior to start
- Security ID application must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Portfolio Epic Training Test Out Form may be required based on prior Epic experience
- TB questionnaire required within 2 weeks prior to start if positive TB history
- Other facility-specific questionnaires (e.g., Latex Allergy) as applicable
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience not required
- Floating and flexibility within specialty units expected
- High acuity and variety of patient diagnoses typical of ED and border units
This position offers a challenging and dynamic environment for experienced RNs comfortable with fast-paced border care across multiple units during night shifts.
