Description
Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Travel Assignment
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
Shift: Includes 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
Unit and Work Environment
- Unit: 3rd Floor, Neuro Med/Surg
- Number of Beds: 20
- Patient Ratio: 6:1
- Staffing Support: Tech support available on day and night shifts; unit secretary from 7am to 7pm
- Equipment Used: IV pumps, telemetry monitors, sequential compression devices (SCDs), continuous pulse oximetry, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Floating Policy: Contract staff float first, rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Job Responsibilities and Skills
- Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members
- Perform bedside shift reports and engage patients/families in care planning
- Prioritize patient care and multitask effectively
- Perform IV starts, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

- The unit is part of a hospital with certifications including Comprehensive Stroke, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
- Tech and unit secretary support help optimize workflow
- Schedule offers consistent 12-hour shifts with weekend coverage requirements
