Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU
Location
- Chattanooga, Tennessee

Unit Information
- Unit: 3West Cardiac, 30 beds
- Patient ratio: 5-6 patients per nurse
- Staffing: Unit clerk on days, 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) day & night, Nursing Supervisor, Hospitalists
- Equipment: Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose monitor, Philips Telemetry, MP2 monitors
- Documentation system: Meditech-HCA version
- Medication systems: WOW with med drawers, PyxisES dispensing system
- Scheduling: Equivalent to every other weekend (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
- Floating policy: May float to general medical/surgical, orthopedic, progressive care unit (PCU), and medical/surgical surgical with oncology units based on skill mix needs
Patient Care & Unit Policies
- Patient experience: Bedside rounding, hourly rounding with 5P’s checked, communication with PCTs about patient needs, use of glass board for department focus areas
- Documentation: Telemetry application documentation, rhythm strip acknowledgment each shift
- Safety: Strict "No Pass Zone" for bed alarms, call lights, IV alarms, etc.
- Dress code: Navy scrubs for RNs; no artificial or gel nails or gel nail polish allowed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience (2 years)
- Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- NIHSS certification

- Experienced charge nurses on both day and night shifts (seniority ranging from 12 to 39 years)
