Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Job Description
- Work on a Med Surg Oncology unit with 12-hour day/night rotating shifts (days, nights, or combination based on staffing needs).
- Patient population primarily includes those with continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy, soft tissue malignancies receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy, and symptom management.
- Focus on symptom management secondary to disease treatment or progression and management of comorbidities.
- Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention.
- Use of specialized equipment including GE telemetry monitors (B450), bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- PICC line management
- Assistance with chest tube insertion and removal
- Management of high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
Clinical Skills Required
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias.
- Accessing ports.
- Arterial line management.
- Blood product administration.
- Central line and PICC line care/management.
- IV starts.
- Assistance with chest tube insertion/removal.
- Management of high flow nasal cannula (HFNC).
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs).
Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts, either day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) or night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
- Typically 36 hours per week (3 shifts).
- Shift assignments reviewed every 4 weeks but subject to change based on staffing needs.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start, with specific Ohio codes for healthcare roles.
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12).
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year.
- Annual TB questionnaire.
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, and rubella.
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable).
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption requires documentation).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31).
- Fit mask testing required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles (valid for entire assignment).
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA provider or instructor level required.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required prior to start.
- Unit-specific competency exams required.
References and Documentation
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.
- Employment application required, including education details.
- Skills checklist required.
- Candidates must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policies.
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually.
Additional Notes
- Floating to other units of similar or lower acuity is required.
- Oncology experience is preferred but not required.
- Shift assignments are subject to change based on staffing priorities every 4 weeks.
