Mammography Technologist - Arizona, Kingman
Job Details
- Location: Kingman, Arizona
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days
- Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
- Work Environment: 2 mammography rooms
- Dress Code: Ceil blue scrubs
Key Responsibilities
- Perform screening and diagnostic mammograms, needle localizations, and stereotactic breast biopsies.
- Ability to perform x-rays is preferred.
- Administer ionizing radiation under direction of Radiologist and Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS).
- Position patients and x-ray equipment appropriately to ensure quality diagnostic images.
- Use professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures based on patient condition and data.
- Select appropriate shielding and immobilization devices.
- Assess contraindications such as medications or patient preparation.
- Verify patient identity using two unique identifiers and confirm procedure requested; verify pregnancy status when applicable.
- Recognize significant clinical information impacting the exam.
- Monitor patient and equipment during procedures; document exam times, patient reactions, and report concerns immediately.
- Document patient and exam details in imaging software.
- Provide evidence-based care to prevent healthcare-acquired conditions and hospital readmissions.
- Practice standard precautions and comply with CDC hand hygiene guidelines.
- Comply with all regulatory, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Apply AIDET communication framework and demonstrate empathy toward patients and families.
- Participate in department meetings and continuous process improvement.
- Maintain all licensure, competencies, training, and education in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Mammography Technologist license in Arizona
- Mammography Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Registration and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography (M)
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program
- Experience with MEDITECH
Preferred Qualifications
- Education from an institution approved by ARRT, Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT), or American College of Radiology (ACR).
Special Position Requirements
- Exposure Category I: routine potential exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, chemical, biological, and radioactive substances.
- Possible exposure to hostile individuals.
Physical Demands and Work Requirements
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate technical business equipment (phone, fax, computer).
- Ability to assist with movement/manipulation of patients and equipment weighing over 300 lbs.
- Ability to care for patients with infectious diseases.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend for the duration of the shift.
- Visual and auditory acuity to monitor equipment and follow instructions during exams.
Additional Information
- Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted.
- Client may cancel up to one shift every two weeks.
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
