Description

Registered Nurse - Outpatient Surgery

Location: Bradenton, Florida
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36


Unit Overview

  • Level II Trauma Center outpatient services including Pre-Op, Phase 2, Preadmission Testing, and Infusion Center
  • Unit has 26 Pre-Op bays and 8 Endoscopy bays
  • Staffed by approximately 27 nurses per day
  • Unit operates from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM with various shift lengths (8, 10, 12 hours)
  • No night shift; call requirement applies
  • Patient ratios vary by area:
    • Pre-Op: 1:1
    • Phase 2: 3-5:1
    • Infusion: 5:1
  • EMR system used: Meditech (some familiarity preferred)
  • Typical procedures include assisting anesthesia with nerve blocks
  • Team-oriented culture with approachable surgeons and anesthesiologists
  • Busy environment with no negative workplace dynamics

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Outpatient Surgery, with recent experience within the last year
  • Experience in an outpatient setting, including Pre-Op and Infusion areas
  • Current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Variable call schedule; expected to work every other weekend and holidays on a rotating basis with hospital staff
