Description
Registered Nurse – Endoscopy
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Endoscopy with sedation experience required; conscious sedation certification highly preferred.
- Start date: June 23 (Tuesday) due to Endoscopy orientation.
- Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts (8:30 AM – 7:00 PM). Possible shift adjustment to 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM with prior notice.
- On-call requirement: 1-2 weekend or holiday shifts per month.
- Must be proficient in telemetry (Tele) including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias; a Relias dysrhythmia test is required.
- Float required across all three Endoscopy areas: Intake, Sedation, and Post-Procedure.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Intake area: 1:1
- Sedation area: 1:1
- Post-Procedure area: 1:2
- CRNAs available for patients requiring MAC sedation.
- Facility is Magnet recognized, teaching hospital, and Level I Trauma center. Preference for candidates with experience in high volume, high acuity, teaching, and trauma settings.
- Charting system: Epic (mandatory).
- Parking available onsite and offsite (details provided during orientation).
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Sedation experience required (hardstop sedation experience mandatory)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam (pass with 80% or higher; max 2 attempts).
- Conscious Sedation Competency Exam required for GI Lab/Endoscopy.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% in dosage calculations.
- Orientation testing is pass/fail with 80% passing score required.
- Annual stroke education required for RNs working in neuro and critical care units.
- Color blind testing required annually starting 5/4/2026.
Background Checks & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start, including nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 1, and state-specific searches.
- Education verification required for Med Lab Techs (not applicable here).
- WA WATCH search required for all candidates working in Washington.
- Drug screening required by agency standards (not required by facility).
- Two professional references required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (not required by facility but required by agency).
- Mask fit test within 12 months of start; can be completed onsite if needed.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or declination forms accepted for:
- Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination; vaccine series plus titer required if non-immune)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination (for tracking purposes)
- TB testing: Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required.
- Meningococcal vaccine required only for Microbiology lab techs (not applicable).
Facility Specific Requirements
- Badge photo required (professional, waist-up, clear lighting, simple background).
- Must sign facility-specific documents including license acknowledgment, equipment safety form, health history form, policies and procedures acknowledgment, job description, PCIS agreement, personal data form, and code of conduct acknowledgment.
- WA License Complaint Clearance required for all using WA state license (not required for compact license holders).
- COVID-19 declination process available but not mandatory; recommended if not up to date on vaccines.
- Influenza vaccination declination form required if vaccine declined.
- Suicide prevention training required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington.
- Demographic attestation required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington.
Additional Notes
- Orientation includes in-person assessments and testing; modules must be completed prior to start.
- Candidates must be prepared for a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with teaching and trauma patient populations.
- Facility provides shuttle service for offsite parking on weekdays (no nights/weekends).
- Guaranteed hours may be reduced by one shift per two-week pay period.
This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs with sedation and telemetry skills seeking a travel assignment in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment.
