Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 40 (variable shifts including days and evenings)
Call Requirements: Yes, approximately one per week including weekends and holidays (shifts may vary, typically M-F until 6pm or 8pm)
Float Requirements: Must float to additional nearby hospitals

Job Description

• Work independently with support from a team of Sonographers and Radiologists
• Perform ultrasound exams including general studies, vascular, obstetrics, outpatient, neonates, and biopsies
• Write preliminary notes on each case
• Patient population includes neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and emergency room patients
• Typical procedures: abdominal, pelvic, ectopic, scrotal, thyroid, some carotids, paracentesis, fine needle aspiration (FNA), thoracentesis, and some obstetrics
• Average patient load: 1 patient per hour
• Community hospital experience required

Facility & Unit Information

• Level 3 Trauma Center
• 4 ultrasound rooms with approximately 35 daily patient census
• Equipment includes portable units, GE brand machines, PACS, and SonoSite
• Electronic Health Record system: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, including experience within the last year
• Certifications: BLS and ARRT or RDMS required
• Experience in an outpatient setting
• Must be able to work independently
• Community hospital experience required

Preferred Qualifications

• Pediatric ultrasound experience preferred
• Familiarity with GE pediatric ultrasound equipment preferred
