Registered Nurse – Stepdown Neuro (Travel/Contract)

Location: Jackson, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:45 – 19:15)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit: Neuro/Surgical Telemetry floor (Stepdown)
Float Requirements: May be required to float to other Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units or low-acuity ICU
Weekend/Holiday Requirements:

• 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Must be willing to work Memorial Day

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown experience within the last year
• Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID carried during work hours
• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year or clear chest X-ray if prior positive
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations or titers with boosters as needed for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer or series; declination form required if booster declined)
  • Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (11/1 – 3/31); no declinations or exemptions accepted
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption prior to start
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Completed employment application/resume
• Skills checklist as applicable to specialty (valid for 1 year)
• EPIC test-out required prior to or shortly after start; only one attempt allowed; failure results in contract cancellation
• N95 fit test within 1 year, updated annually; no PAPR allowed; failure to pass results in contract cancellation
• Compliance with facility appearance standards

Additional Notes

• No on-call required
• Locals and first-time travelers accepted equally
• Travel experience preferred but not required
