Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location
- Portland, Maine
Employment Type
- Travel assignment
Contract Length
- Approximately 26 weeks
Work Schedule
- Shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
- Weekend hours: 36 (working every other weekend)
- Call requirement: Yes, approximately one call shift per month with 2-hour call for the oncoming shift
- Scheduling is based on department operational needs; approved time off documented in the contract is guaranteed, but additional schedule requests may not be accommodated
Unit and Patient Information
- Department: Respiratory Therapy
- Number of RRTs on team: 14-16 covering entire facility
- Number of beds varies depending on daily assignments
- Patient ratios: Acute care 1:25, Critical care 1:8
- Patient types: Varied, including adult acute and critical care, NICU/PICU, acute care pediatrics, emergency department
- Facility type: Tertiary, teaching hospital, Level 1 trauma center
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Maine
- Registered Respiratory Therapist with a minimum of 3 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification
- NRP certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- Experience in a tertiary/teaching hospital environment
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma center
Preferred Experience
- Experience in NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic care preferred
- Prior experience in a tertiary, teaching hospital and Level 1 trauma center environment
Skills and Attributes
- Flexible and adaptable to changing assignments
- Team player with strong communication skills
Equipment and Technology
- Ventilators: Drager V500 and VN500, Hamilton T1 and C1, Respironics V30, V60, Trilogy line, Airvo, Vapotherm
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Dress Code
- Scrubs provided or flexible scrub color options
- No unacceptable attire specified
This position offers a dynamic environment requiring a skilled RRT comfortable with a variety of patient populations and critical care settings, including pediatric and adult acute care. The role includes weekend work, call responsibilities, and floating across multiple units.
