Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Travel Position
Location
- Portland, Maine
Employment Type
- Travel contract
- Preferred contract length: 26 weeks (13 weeks accepted)
Work Schedule
- Shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 48
- Weekend requirement: 75% of shifts include weekends
- No call requirements
Unit and Patient Care
- Float Pool position with floating assignments to:
- Neuro ICU
- Surgical/Trauma ICU
- Cardiac ICU (CICU)
- Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU)
- Intermediate Care (IMC) units with patient ratios of 1:3
- ICU patient ratios generally 1:2; 1:3 in ICU and IMC
- Patient types include sedated, intubated, and patients on pressors
- No care for high complexity patients such as those requiring CRRT
- EMR system used: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Minimum 3 years of Critical Care Float experience, including within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing
- Flexibility to float across multiple ICU specialties and IMC units
- Strong focus on patient care, teamwork, and adaptability to multiple assignments per shift

- Dress code: Scrubs (no specific color), no open-toed shoes (no crocs), no jeans, no clothing with large logos or profanity
- This position supports staffing needs due to multiple RN departures and leaves of absence within the ICU units
- Maintaining adequate staffing is critical to patient safety, especially for cardiac ICU and STEMI patient care
