Description
Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath Lab
Location: Smyrna, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 (4x10 hour shifts)
Shift: Variable weekdays, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Unit Overview
- Unit: Cardiac Cath Lab
- Number of Beds: 115
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 in cath lab
- Staffing: 3-person cath and call teams; typically 5-6 staff per day (3 FT Techs, 2 FT RNs)
- Equipment: GE X-ray, Alaris pumps
- Documentation Systems: Merge Hemo and Meditech
- Scheduling: 8 weekday call days and up to 6 weekend call days per month
- Floating Policy:
- Radiologic Techs may float to Imaging modalities (IR, XR, CT, MRI)
- RCIS may float to IR/Specials/endovascular lab
- RNs cover cardiology patients in Non-invasive, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine
- No floating outside these areas
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
- Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and ARRT or RCIS certification
- Experience with diagnostic and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedures in the Cath Lab
Procedures Performed
- Left and right heart catheterizations
- Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) including Rotablator, CSI, Shockwave
- Use of devices such as Impella, Getinge IABP, Boston Polaris (FFR and IVUS), Abbott Illumien FFR
Work Environment & Culture
- Small hospital with a family-like atmosphere
- Highly involved leadership focused on department success
- Unit dress code: Red top and bottom scrubs OR black top with red bottoms; Ceil blue scrubs also acceptable

- Candidates should be prepared for a variable weekday schedule with call responsibilities on weekdays and weekends
- The unit values experience with both diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures
