• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Full-time, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (5 days, 8 hours per day)

Job Summary

• Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients.
• Prepare patient skin for surgery following hospital standards.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and monitor for breaches.
• Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients.
• Transport and position patients for surgery.
• Identify and care for biological specimens.
• Prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the surgical case.
• Establish and maintain sterile field; pass instruments and sutures to the physician.
• Use physician preference cards to set up cases and keep them updated.
• Work effectively as part of the surgical team.
• Maintain a safe environment by following technical and aseptic practices.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment care.
• Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety.
• Monitor and control the surgical environment, including traffic control and OR sanitation policies.
• Follow facility policies on decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies.
• Adapt patient care to meet population-specific and developmental needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education & Certification

• High School Diploma or equivalent or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
• Surgical Technologist experience.

Skills & Competencies

• Ability to proficiently scrub in at least 3 specialty areas, including but not limited to Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, Robotics.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation.
• Ability to maintain and update physician preference cards.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills.
• Competency in maintaining a safe and controlled surgical environment.
