Registered Nurse (RN) – Long Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility

Location: Canistota, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Job Details

• Facility type: Geriatric Long Term Care psychiatric facility
• Patient population: Elderly patients including those with dementia and behavioral health diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia (medication-managed)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:

  • Overnight shift approximately 1:45
  • Day shift approximately 1:23 (med aide support from 6-10, 1 nurse from 10-6)
• EMR system: PCC
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Scheduled if they fall within your assigned block schedule
• Orientation: Includes training, tour, competencies, and opportunity to shadow 1-2 shifts
• Work week: Sunday through Saturday

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Dakota
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum of 1 year of Long Term Care experience, with recent experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Additional Information

• No on-call or call-back responsibilities
• Local placements within an 80-mile radius
• Guarantee: 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts
• Staffing support includes med aides during early hours and a nurse during the day shift
• Behavioral program present for psychiatric patients
• Cancellation policy: A fee applies if the clinician cancels or quits with less than 14 days’ notice
