Description
Respiratory Care Practitioner
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract length: 13 weeks
Overview
Provide routine and critical respiratory care under supervision, with responsibility for patients across neonatal through geriatric populations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Illinois
- Respiratory Care Practitioner experience within the last year
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (1 year of experience)
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NBRC
Key Responsibilities
- Perform respiratory care procedures and evaluate patient responses to care plans
- Assess ventilator patients and other respiratory care patients
- Obtain and analyze arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases
- Prepare, test, clean, process, and maintain respiratory equipment and supplies
- Document care, procedures, patient response, and charges in the EMR
- Report equipment malfunctions and relay relevant patient information to physicians
- Support respiratory care services in inpatient units and the emergency room
