Description

Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Thomasville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: Day (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Schedule: Every Other Week (EOW)
Float: Required
Start Date: Approximately 3 weeks from offer


Job Description

  • Provide general Medical-Surgical nursing care.
  • Charge nurse responsibilities required.
  • Minimal to no Return to Origin (RTO) time allowed (must be included on submission).
  • Electronic Medical Record system used: Soarian.
  • Royal Blue scrubs required (not provided).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Experience in charge nurse roles.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Two recent supervisor/manager level references (Charge RN references accepted but not preferred).
  • Skills checklist updated annually.
  • Proof of education (diploma or transcript).
  • NURSYS verification required.
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national sex offender registry, FACIS Level 3, and education verification.
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
  • TB testing: QGold or TSPOT within 30 days of start (no PPDs accepted). For past positives, chest x-ray within 2 years and TB questionnaire within 30 days required.
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (9/3 through 3/31) unless approved medical/religious exemption is provided.
  • Fit test for masks completed onsite at no cost.
  • Facility-specific HealthStream modules must be completed prior to first day.
  • Photo for badge required within 24 hours of signing (passport-style, shoulders up, no selfies).
  • Facility-specific forms (IS115 and IS119) must be completed and signed (wet ink or DocuSign).
  • Business Associate Agreement may be required if requested.
  • Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates with an address within 50 miles of the assignment location will be considered but may have adjusted pay rates.
  • Fingerprinting requirements apply only to CNAs; not required for RNs.
  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service.
  • All documentation must be submitted in the order requested by the facility checklist.
  • Flu exemption requests require detailed documentation and facility approval.
  • References and evaluations must be verified within 12 months of start date.
  • Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending but must complete within 30 days or risk removal from assignment.
